SENSELESS INVASION OF NIGERIA OFFICE OF AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL (AI) BY A FACELESS GROUP

By CDHR

The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) condemn in strong terms the invasion and mob action carried out against the Nigeria Office of Amnesty International (AI) by a faceless group on Monday 20th March, 2017 with a repeated action the following Tuesday.

It is instructive to state here that one of the major assignments of Amnesty International (AI) is to protect the rights of all citizens around the world without bias to religion, ethnicity, colour or race.

We note that even with the heavy criticism of the Nigeria Army by the Amnesty International (AI) in respect of their operational tactics to quell the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East of Nigeria, at no time did the Nigeria Army invade the Amnesty International (AI) office or harass any of their officials.

Since this type of development can only portray Nigeria in negative image to the outside world, that’s why we call on the Federal Government to use her security apparatus to fish out the perpetrators of this dastardly acts immediately.

We say NO to jungle justice.
